What to expect
The initial assessment
The initial Physiotherapy Assessment will require an hour. Subsequent or follow up visits require about 30 minutes.
When you see a physiotherapist, they will complete thorough assessment that may include your health history, evaluation of pain and movement patterns, strength, joint range of motion, reflexes, sensation and cardiorespiratory status. They will also examine relevant x-rays, laboratory tests, medical records and surgical reports.
Based on the assessment, the physiotherapist develops a diagnosis. This allows you and your therapist to work in partnership to set and achieve personalized goals. You will also understand how to manage your injury or condition.
